1. Who can use the AT School Swap?

The AT School Swap was created for Vermont school systems to allow for the exchange of AT devices among and between school districts and school systems statewide.

2. What type of AT devices can be listed?

Any AT devices that assists a student with a disability to access the curriculum as identified in the student’s IEP. When considering the exchange of software, please comply with the terms outlined in the license agreement that accompanies the software.

3. What type of AT devices will not be listed on the AT School Swap?

Supplies and equipment such as ventilators, oxygen equipment, and catheters will not be accepted. Items posing hygiene or safety risks will not be listed.

4. How can I browse the listed items?

You can view all available items on the AT School Swap by clicking on the View Items Available button. If you are interested in viewing items sought by other schools, click on View Items Needed. Both of the resulting lists can be filtered/searched by AT category, by length of time posted on the AT School Swap, by type, by zip code proximity and by keyword.

5. How do I become a registered user?

This is a “members only” online exchange for Vermont School systems. To become a registered user please contact the AT School Swap via email at info@vermont.atschoolswap.com or by phone at 802-498-4740; Toll-Free: 888-827-2714; TTY: 802-241-1464; FAX: 802-241-2174 . Please add the email address info@vermont.atschoolswap.com to your email safe list. This will ensure that messages sent to you through our system will be delivered to your inbox.

6. Why does the AT School Swap need information about me?

There are two reasons. First, we need your contact information as the person identified by your school system for communication purposes. Second, we are able to bring you the AT School Swap as a free service because the Vermont Assistive Technology Program receives federal funding. In return, we are required to collect and report on specific information. For that reason, we ask you to give us feedback after a successful device exchange. Please be assured that your personal information will never be known to anyone outside of the AT School Swap. We will never identify you by name or other defining characteristics in any report.

7. How can I add an AT device to the AT School Swap?

If you have an AT device that you would like to offer for loan/free click Post an Item. You will then be prompted to fill out a form with information about the item you would like to list on the AT School Swap. Once the form is completed click Submit Listing for Preview. You will then be shown a preview of what your listing will look like so you can confirm that all the information is correct. At this time, you can add up to four (4) photos to be included with your listing. The system will automatically resize the photos appropriately. If all is correct click on Confirm Submission and your listing will be submitted to the AT School Swap. If you need to change something about your listing click Edit Before Submitting and make the necessary edits.

8. How can I add an AT device that I am looking to acquire?

To add an item for which you are looking to acquire, click on Post an Item Needed. You will then be prompted to complete a form with information about the item you are looking to acquire. Once the form is completed click Submit Listing for Preview. You will then be shown a preview of what your listing will look like so you can confirm that all the information is correct. If all is correct click on Confirm Submission and your listing will be submitted to the AT School Swap. If you need to change something about your listing click Edit Before Submitting and make the necessary edits.

9. What happens when I submit my item?

After you submit an item, whether you are looking to loan/give away or looking to acquire, a staff member reviews the listing for approval. You are then sent an email message informing you if your item will be listed. You can also see the status of your listings at anytime under My Account.

10. How can I edit my listing(s)?

In order to edit a listing under the My Account heading, find your item and click the edit icon (picture of the edit icon) next to the item. You will then be given the opportunity to make any edits to the information currently associated with that item. If you need to add photos associated with your listing please email your request to info@vermont.atschoolswap.com. Attach the photo file(s) and be sure to include the ItemID in your email message. If you need to delete photo(s) associated with your listing please email your request to info@vermont.atschoolswap.com and be sure to include the ItemID in your message.

11. How can I remove my listing(s)?

In order to remove a listing, under the My Account heading, click on the remove icon (Picture of the remove icon) next to the item. Complete the short form.

12. How can I update my contact information in my account?

In order to update your contact information, under the My Account heading, click on Update My Contact Information. The information currently associated with your account will be listed in the form; to change any information simply delete the current information and type in the new information. Remember to click the Save Changes button before exiting the page.

14. Is there some way for me to identify AT devices just recently added to the AT School Swap?

Yes. Items posted within the last 7 days are identified with a new symbol (picture of new symbol). Also, the search feature allows you to filter the list of all items added within the past 7, 14, or 30 days.

15. What happens if I do not update my listing?

If an item has been listed on the AT School Swap for 365 days and is not updated prior to the end of that time period, it will be removed.
